Farplas Otomotiv Anonim Şirketi (FARP) is a 50-year-old Tier-1 automotive and mobility company located in Turkey. Major customers in passenger vehicle segment are Renault, Toyota, Hyundai, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles Group and in commercial vehicle are Mercedes-Benz, Ford, MAN and Volvo.
Farplas has been founded in 1968 and it is one of the major suppliers for automotive industry both globally and nationally with 1800 employees in 3 manufacturing sites. Main commercial products in automotive sector are interior and exterior body parts, electronic based ceiling and lighting systems and instrument panels. Commercial products in mobility sector are mainly data & AI platform services such as Kopilot, Yol Arkadaşım and Motrio.
Production technology includes injection molding, assembly and paint processes for plastic trim parts. In last five- years, Farplas improved the competency in advanced injection molding technology; Fiber form (composite over- molding technology), In Mold Decoration, Mucell, Metal Insert, Wrapping, Curing on Demand (Near IR Structural Bonding) and Two- Component technologies.
One of the core competences of Farplas is automation-metod & equipment development. All of injection moulding machines operate simultaneously with 3-axis and 6-axis robots. In production lines, there are 70 3-axis industrial robots which are connected to injection machines. 3-axis robots function simultaneously with injection machines, gripping produced parts and place it on conveyor to deliver operator. In Farplas, painting process is fully automated by 6-axis robots. There are also 13 6-axis industrial robots which are from different providers as Kuka, ABB. 6-axis robots work with also 3-axis robots simultaneously and function for assembling subparts to parts, riveting on part surfaces, bonding part to part with adhesives and robot-controlled plasma surface treatment. Therefore, operators have a chance to develop solid background in working at same environment with industrial robots. This will enable smooth implementation of collaborative robots in its current production environment.
Farplas project team has been managing global projects with major automotive manufacturer companies, therefore it has powerful project management skills and extensive automotive industry standards compliance experience. Farplas applies World Class Automotive Grade Manufacturing principles in the production processes in order to provide safe work environment, increase quality, protect the environment and avoid wastages.
Currently the Research and Development Department provides the following services; product development, process design, advanced technologies, product engineering and mold, pattern development. Members of the R&D team are experts in providing knowledge and expertise for the successful delivery of the product development process. In addition to a highly skilled team, Farplas utilizes software (CAD, CAM, CAE) and hardware, specifically fast prototyping machines, materials and performance testing devices, for the most accurate and reliable results.
Farplas has strong relationship with research institutes and universities. Collaboration with Fraunhofer IAO and Fraunhofer IPA helps Farplas to reach its digital transformation goal in production and advance in R&D roadmap.

Turkey Innovation Strategy Award (Grand Prize), Innovation Award by FCA Group, Quality Award by Fiat Turkey Automotive, Project Management Award and Value Analysis Certificate by Toyota Motor Europe are a prominent example.
